Because This Weekend's Gonna Be Stormy AF: 6 Things We're Watching Indoors This Weekend

Just when we thought we were maybe escaping the summer heat this year, Mother Nature comes out of nowhere and slaps us right in the face.

We've spent the week sweating our way around the city, desperate for a cold breeze from the air conditioned stores we pass by on our way to work.

And now that it's finally the weekend, there's no better way to wind down and chill out (literally) than in an ice cold movie theater.

We don't even really care what the movie is, honestly. We just want to be cold and not moving for as long as humanly possible.

So this weekend, due to the scorching temps, thunderstorms, and a generally unfavorable weather forecast, you can likely find us hanging out indoors, catching the newest flicks or catching up on old favs.

Here's our roundup of what we'll be watching over the next few days.

1. The Secret Life of Pets

Well if this doesn't look like the most adorable freaking movie to ever come into existence.

Brand new animated flick, The Secret Life of Pets, explores exactly that: what do our animals do when their humans leave them for the day? Play video games? Devour an entire turkey we've left in the fridge for dinner? Sit by the door waiting for us to return?

The movie looks downright hilarious, and features an impressive, star-studded cast: Louis C.K., Jenny Slate, Kevin Hart, Ellie Kemper, Dana Carvey, and Albert Brooks to name a few.

2. Billions

I think we can all agree here haven't been enough movies/TV shows centered around white men who are somehow involved in the finance industry.

So here's a brand new one! Showtime's series, Billions, stars Paul Giamatti and Damian Lewis as U.S. Attorney and hedge-fund king (respectively) who cross paths during a high-stakes insider trading case.

Season 1 is available to stream now, with a second season in the works.

3. Make Happy

Gangly genius Bo Burnham is back with an all new comedy special on Netflix, and we couldn't be happier.

Make Happy premiered last month on the 'flix, and contains all the wit and hilarity we've come to expect from Burhman. He combines stand-up, original song, and general brilliance to once again make us laugh and think harder than we ever have.

And while we're at it, we might even re-watch some of his old school, pre-stardom YouTube vids, just to relive the good old days.

4. Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates

Okay, this movie definitely looks ridiculous, but we are in the throes of wedding season, so we actually really feel Mike and Dave on this one.

And, you know, Zac Efron has really, erm, grown up since his High School Musical days, and we're not mad at the idea of staring at him be gorgeous for 2 hours.

Aubrey Plaza and Anna Kendrick also star, so besides being a somewhat silly concept for a movie, it's bound to be entertaining given the amount of comedic talent in the cast.

5. Broad City

Even though it's only been a few months since season 3 ended, we're just missing Abbi and Ilana. And given all the weird/sad shit that's been going on in the world lately, we could seriously use a laugh.

So, we'll be re-watching Broad City in all its brilliant, hilarious glory, particularly relating to the episode where the girls are trying desperately to obtain an air conditioner in attempts to combat the sweltering city heat.

We feel you, ladies.

6. Euro Cup Final

heather_sweetspot

Whoa der. Ronaldo's not much of a choke artist? Is that it? Is he going to deliver what was promised to Portugal centuries ago?! The prophecy? Will it be fulfilled? Over France?!

Okay, so there's no prophecy, but there's still one last great game going down this Sunday. On the whole, the Euro Cup has been loaded with absurd surprises. Iceland. Wales. Poland, even. It's been ridiculous.

Sunday's final's going to be epic. Shout out to Edd the Intern who is spoiled's own prized Portuguese fanatic. Also, SUCK IT FRANCE!
